On the occasion of the 120th Anniversary of Aleko Konstantinov’s passing the City of Chicago, at the official request of the Bulgarian Consul General – Ivan Anchev, named the intersection at Hamlin Ave & Irving Park Rd. (near the First Bulgarian Cultural Center) after the famous Bulgarian satirical writer. Aleko Konstantinov visited Chicago in 1893 and attended the World’s Columbian Exposition (it celebrated the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s arrival in the New World in 1492. A special edition of Stanley’s New America Talk Show was dedicated to Aleko Konstantinov with guests – Ivan Todorov (writer and historian) and Tatiana Dimitrova (director of the First Bulgarian Cultural Center in Chicago).
